Please remember: The pattern booklets listed on this page are all over 50 years old -- they may be a bit fragile and will likely show signs of wear (which pretty much describes the rest of us who are over 50!) In fact, I would say condition ranges from "Wow" to abysmal -- I'll try to note obvious problems.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 107: Ruffled Doilies, Coats & Clark's, 1959. Digest-size book containing 11 lacy doilies with ruffled edges. I still remember how much my mom enjoyed making these -- and disliked starching them! About 1" tear up spine on cover, but pages are in surprisingly good condition for the age of this book.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 201: Doilies, The Spool Cotton Company, 1943. Approx. 15 crocheted designs and one knit for doilies of all shapes and sizes,. Book definitely shows its age and wear; SERIOUS CONDIITON PROBLEMS include serious cover & page wear, hole punches that do not affect instructions, notes on some patterns to keep track of rows, book has been folded lengthwise down center. All instructions present and clear (though the print is really small); some gorgeous designs here.

J & P Coats Book No. 217: Old and New Favorites: Doilies, J & P Coats, 1944. Featuring doilies, place mats, table runners, tray mats, coasters, and sets. Two holes punched through book near spine, probably for a binder, and some notes written in margins, but otherwise good condition.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 222: Doilies, Coats & Clark's, 1972. Digest-size book containing: Crocheted round doily, Wheat Doily, Monkey Lace Doily, and Beaded Doily; Knitted round Doily; Tatted square doily. Cover scarred from tag removal, but otherwise very good condition.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 235: Doilies, The Spool Cotton Company, 1947. Approx. 14 crocheted designs. Some cover & edge wear, but overall very good condtion.

J & P Coats Book No. 252: Pineapple Pageant, J & P Coats Book No. 252, 1948. Featuring plain and Ruffled doilies (this book reminds me of how much my mohter enjoyed crocheting these, but hated starching and blocking them!) Excellent condition.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 253: Ruffled Doilies, The Spool Cotton Company, 1949. About a dozen designs in a variety of shapes and sizes. Slight damage at bottom of a couple of pages where they evidently got wet, but book in surprisingly good condition for its age.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 258: Floral Doilies, The Spool Cotton Company, 1949. Designs that can be used as either doilies or placemants include: Daffodil, White Daisy, Forget- Me- Not, Pink Clover, Black Eyed Susan, Apple Blossom, Pansy (Luncheon Set), Blue Aster, Blue Bell, Wild Rose, and Daisy Luncheon Set. Some age wear, but good overall condition.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 268: Newest In Floral Doilies, The Spool Cotton Company, 1950. Designs include: Wild Rose Scallops, Rose Bouquet (placemat), Flower Cartwheel, Tulip Varieties, Floral Temptation, Heavenly Blue (place mat & napkin edging), Daisy Web, Viola Cornuta (table runner), Sweet William, Petunias, and Coreopsis. Excellent condition; may have slight cigarette smoke smell.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 297: Doilies In the Modern Manner, Coats & Clark Inc., 1953. "Ruffled, Knitted, Irish Crochet, Hairpin Lace." Some age wear, light pencil marks on some pages, but good overall condition.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 306: Ruffled Doilies, Coats & Clark, Inc., 1954. About a dozen designs in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from simple to intricate. Also includes placemats and doilies with fruit edgings: Grapes, Strawberry, Lemon, Cherry, Pear, Oranbe, Apple, and Watermelon! Book is somewhat wrinkled, but overall good condition.

Designs include: Lacy Links, Summer Shower (star shaped), Pineapple Posy, Leafy Spray (ruffled), Starry Sky (tray mat), Ripe Wheat Doily & Runner, Gossamer Web, Daisy Dots, Pine Tree (intersting 8- pointed ruffled), and Whirlwind (unique round pinwheel that actually looks like a whirlwind). Some age wear, but good overall condition.

Coats & Clark's Book No. 327: Ruffled Doilies, Coats & Clark, Inc., 1957. 10 designs in a variety of shapes and sizes, One pattern gives suggestions for Table Runner, Night Table Doily, Centerpiece, Buffet Runner, etc. simply by varying the number of motifs used. Very good condition, but does smell MUSTY.

Lily Design Book No. 52: Flower Garden Doilies, Lily Mills Co., nd. Probably 1950's . Designs include gorgeous doilies. ruffled doilies, tablecloth, and luncheon sets with roses, ranunculus, carnation, anemone, daffodil, daisy, cornflower, dogwood, larkspur, hollyhock, and Desert Rose motifs. Excellent vintage condition.

Lily Design Book No. 60: Table Doilies, Lily Mills Co., 1951 . Designs include placemats, runners, doilies, and appliques, edgings, and insertions. All pages loose from staples, some ripped the entire way up the spine. Pages themselves are yellowed but in good condition, and all are here -- just loose!

Designs include: Tatted Flower Doily, 2 different Tatted Place Mats, 4 tatted Handkerchief Edgings, Tatted Place Mat edging, Tatted Lingerie Edgings, Tatted Table Runner; Crochet Ruffles & Flourishes Centerpiece, Place Mat, and Bread and Butter Plate and Doilies; "Crochet Tatting" Pillow Case Edgings, Doily Edgings, and Place Mat Edging. Spine and cover wear, but good condition for its age.

Very good vintage condition.

Probably 1950's vintage digest-size book with designs like: Primrose Path Luncheon Set, Fandango, Hexagon Ruffled, Dahlia, Rippling Rhythm, Flowers 'n Filet, Geometric Chair Set, Filet Valentine, Pineapple, and Pineapple Sheer. Very good condition.

Probably 1950's vintage digest-size book containing: Pineapple Centerpiece, Spring Floral Doily, Crocheted Netting Centerpiece, Vanity Set, Hairpin Lace Centerpiece, Link'd Lines Place Mat, Ruffled Doily, Circles 'N Circles Place Mat, and Daisy Ring Doily. Very good condition, but does have MUSTY smell.

Digest-size book containing: ruffled doilies, shadowed filet doily, Table Dioly Set, Rose in Bloom placemats, Vanity Set, Refreshment Set (doily with matching coasters), ruffled Bread Tray doily, Clover Leaf Doily, Pete 'n Tweet place mats with appliqued birds, Buffet Doily Set, Sofa Set with roses in filet crochet, Centerpiece in Shadow Filet, "Thistles in the Garden,", and Pick A Daisy Breakfast Set. Excellent to like new condition.

Lily Book 1600: Doilies to Treasure, Lily Mills Co., nd. (probably late '40's or early '50's). Some very unusual designs in filet, motifs, appliques, pineapples, and ruffles for doilies, placemats, a "Davenport Set," Crochet Cut Work, coasters, a buffet runner, a tray liner, etc. Excellent vintage condition.

REPRINT - Star Book No. 22: Star Book of Doilies, American Thread Co., ca late 1940's, but this is a modern Doilies in all sizes and shapes, including the popular ruffled doilies. Also hints on using them for dress trims, bride's lacy halo and muff, tatted cap and doily frill, and more. Tag residue on cover, but otherwise excellent condition.

Doilies: Crocheted and Tatted, Star Book No. 44, undated but I'd guess mid - late 1940's. Some gorgeous doilies here. Very used -- cover torn, spine wear, some cross-offs and notes on patterns. However, all instructions are intact and readable, though the print is rather small.

Star Book No. 59: Ruffled Doilies and the Pansy Doily, American Thread Co., 1948. 11 designs, from Double Ruffle to a bread tray. Definitely showing its age -- cover & page wear, Cover torn about 3" up spine, page yellowing & some spotting, some small notes. 2 holes punched in probably for binder. All patterns intact and clearly readable.

Star Book No. 64: Flower Doilies, American Thread Co., 1949. Includes: Rose Hot Plate Mat Cover; Daisy, Forget- Me- Not, Irish Rose, Pond Lily, African Violet, and New Pansy Doilies; and Passion Flower and Wild Rose Luncheon Sets. Definitely showing its age -- Cover separated from pages, torn and taped full length of spine; some slight spotting on a couple of pages. . All patterns intact and clearly readable.

Star Book No. 71: Doily Bouquet, American Thread Co., 1950. Some wonderful designs, including two basic centers that are interchangeable with a Grape, Violet, Butterfly, or Holly border; a Spider Web doily, a Rose Ruffle Doily, Flower Bouquet, and Cameo Girl (4 "crinoline lady-type figures holding hands. Excellent condition for its age.

Star Book No. 95: Ruffled Doilies, American Thread Co., 1952. Designs include Ruffled Doily in 3 sizes, a Tatted Ruffled Doily, a Round Ruffled Doily, a Tailored Ruffled Doily, an Oval Ruffled Doily, an Octopus Ruffled Doily, a Square Filet Ruffled Doily, and Round and Square Daisy Ruffled Doily. Very good condition.

Star Doily Book No. 104: Doilies -- Crocheted, Hairpin Lace, Knitted, American Thread Co., 1955. Pineapples, Flowers, and Ruffles. Cover torn up and down at spine, folded lengthwise, marks on some pages.

Star Doily Book No. 120: Doilies, Doilies, and More Doilies, American Thread Co., 1955. Includes: Pineapple Ruffle Doily, Wheat & Grape Doily, Candy Dish Doily, Knitted Pinwheel Doily, Crocheted Knot Stitch Doily, Multicolor Doily, Rose Doily, Pineapple Doily, and Nosegay Doily. Cover split nearly all the way up the spine, tear from bottom up at spine all the way through the book, some notes on pages -- Definitely used, but all patterns intact and clearly readable.

Star Doily Book No. 124: Doilies, American Thread Co., 1955. Includes: Oval Pineapple, Flowers (round doily), More Flowers (rectangle made with motifs), Green & Pink, Spider Web, Picot, Cluster Stitch, and Knitted (looks like a pinwheel). Definitely has seen better days; cover completely split in two at spine and off book (was taped on, but the tape apparently dried up and fell off), some splitting at seam. notes on one pattern. Still a lot of life left, though; patterns intact and clearly readable.

Star Doily Book No. 128: Doilies, American Thread Co., 1956. "New, easy- to- follow directions for crocheted, knitted, flower, and ruffled doilies." Small rip on front cover, page and cover wear.

Star Doily Book No. 145: Doilies-- Pineapples, Flowers, and Sunbursts, American Thread Co., nd (I'd guess maybe 1956 or '57). Over 15 patterns, including some tatted and some knit. A nice variety, with interesting textures and color combinations; some of these are really gorgeous. Excellent condition for its age.

Dressy Doilies, American Thread Company, undated. One-page instruction leaflet with directions for three different doilies. VERY fine print. Has been folded in half, but in otherwise excellent condition.

Hand Crochet by Royal Society: Crisp New Doilies, Royal Society, Inc., 1948. Looks like an assortment of about 21 different designs in a variety of shapes and sizes, including some filet, a table runner, and a square table set made with motifs with 4 different sized pieces (plate doily, coaster, centerpiece, and placemat). Like many of these older pattern books, this one has seen better days. However, all pages are present, and clearly readable.
